O The Deep, Deep Love of Jesus

It was a cold dark night as a young teenager began to walk along the Thames River on his way home. As he began to cross the bridge, a voice seemed to say, “End this misery!” As Samuel Trevor Francis looked at the rushing water ready to take his own life, he suddenly felt the overwhelming power of Jesus’ love for him!

Francis’ doubts and questions about his life and faith almost caused him to end his own life but the love of Jesus reached through that dark moment to remind him of His love. After this experience, Francis dedicated the next 70 years of his life to the ministry and penned the well-known hymn O The Deep, Deep Love of Jesus.
